Hey I've been gone for awhile, still got my tanks.Running an 90g skimmerless tank for 1 1/2 year.Fish and reef(corals/anemones,ect),My Q is how I can go to VHO lighting the cheapest way?I have NO's right now with PC's.My tank is an 4' long version,so keeping it all the canopy would be good.I was thinking of some 110 watt VHO's(2) to replace one of the NO's.Right now I have about 350 watts, wanting to get it up to 500.Cheap solutions??I like to build my own equipment,so keep that in mind. Thanks and I look forward to being back!Mike

Hey, I think the absolute cheapest way to go w/ a electronic ballast is using the Fulham workhorse 7 that will push 2 110w VHO bulbs. I believe you can pick up that ballast for around $30 online. I have seen lots of posts about these and people seem to like them. If you want to go retro look at hellolights.com and they have some good deals.

where i live the fulham workhorse 7 is 38 bucks...
is that a good deal? I plan on using 4 24" bulbs @ 55w ea. for my 20 gallon or a 250w MH Last edited by qwuintus; 01-30-2003 at 04:24 PM. |
