ok ive bought an 80 gallon tank i scraped the 58 gallon idea any ways i think i ve decided on my lighting tell if its good or not. I was thinking of going with a sunlight supply dual 250 watt ballast and two reef optix 1 pendants and using 4 NO actinc bulbs. now are the actinc bulbs going to be strong enough to off set the color of the iwaskis?. also if i want to change to a 10k bulb do i have to get a pulse star ballast what is a pulse star ballast any way? please le me know i want mostly softies and LPs corals but also would like some clams and maybe SPS one day so i want to keep my options open with corals give me your ideas they will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks, Blue

ok ive been up all night looking at prices and for the money it seem maybe an ab- aquaspacelight fixture would be a better rout i can get it with dual 250 watt hqi's and 2 actincs pc's for 755 not a bad price i dont remember right off the top of my head what the iwaski set up was going to cost i think it was around 5-600 dollars and for a cuople 100 extra this seems like a better deal or do i even need the 250 watters can i go with 150 watt HQI's ? Basically my tanks 8o gallons same foot print as an 75 just a little wider all im wanting to be able to do is keep clams polyps leathers open brains and such the maine reason for the high light is for the clams. Sorry for posting again befor anyone go to reply just brain storming and all my ideas will be out by time all you people wake up a read this please give me your ideas this is the last part of the tank i have to design i already have the skimmer and what not figured out i just need to decide on some good lighting that i wont have to replace down the road and that is decent for the corals i want and that is also reliable.
Thanks, Blue

The aquaspace lights are nice but if your getting it I would go with the electronic ones since they wieght alot less.
you should be able to setup a dual 250 65K for around $500 even using icecap ballasts and less for sunlight supply. I think that 4 no actinic would cover the 250 iswakis. If you get the new icecap ballasts you can run any bulb and if you dont like the iwaskis you can change to 10K when you replace them in a year or so. |
