gieseman vs ab aquastarlight

i was searching through the web and thought that these brands were similar bc of their design but i believe they are different...i think the gieseman has its ballast outside vs the ab has it inside...both are double end HQI...geiseman comes with ushios, and like the starlight future it comes with a moonlight. i think the lfs has one... didn't know if anyone knew how these two compared

secondly any pics of people who put this system in their canopy.. any good designs?

thanks
jt

Yes, the Giesemann System 260 Moonlight is an excellent fixture. The ballasts are not inside the fixture, they are outside. It is a better fixture than the AB Aquasunlight (IMO) but it is also much, much more expensive. The Giesemann System 260 Moonlight comes with its own onboard computer, which adds to the cost. In the 48" size it would have two 250w 10,000H HQI BLV/Ushio DE lamps plus two 30w NO 03 actinic fluorescents plus a central moonlight, which is believe is a 12w LED unit. An excellent fixture, but very, very pricey.

The AB Aquasunlight Future fixture has similar features and the computer is optional. The only AB fixtures that you will usually see in stock over here in the U.S. are the Aquaspacelight and the Aquastarlight Future, but they could order you an Aquasunlight Future if you really wanted one but it would be a bit large for your size tank and would overhang your tank quite a lot.

P.S. -- I priced the Giesemann System 260 Moonlight 48" fixture before I purchased my 48" AB Aquastarlight Future fixture. The Giesemann fixture was three times as much money!!

Or you could check out Giesemann's new System 230 eco plus. It is designed to compete with the AB-Aqualine Aquaspacelight but I don't know what the price is.
