Life of Double Ended bulb

Hello,

I purchased a 250 watt 5,600°K double ended Osram bulb from drsfostersmith, the box states that it was manufactured in December of 1993. Will the age of the bulb effect the quality of the light it produces and or the durability of the filament?

i see no reason why a old bulb will not perform well.
