I have a 55 gallon reef with 3 VHO's and 1 175 watt MH. I would like to upgrade to a 400. I have 10 SPS frags and am planning on a 150 gallon tank in the near future, so the 400 could be used on my new tank. My questions are:
1. Will the heat from the 400 cause my tank temperature to rise to much ( with my 175 it never gets above 80)? 2. What is the best/cheapest ballast for a Iwasaki? 3. Is 400 overkill, or will I need a chiller, If so what are some options? Thanks, Scott |

alot of people say no such thing as too much light, but cooling would be a concern...
if you plan on increasing tank size I'd say go for it... Mike |

Temperature was really what I was worried about. Does anyone out there have a similar sized tank with either one or two 400's or 250's? What about a 150 gallon tank with 2 400's? Would I need a chiller?
Thanks, Scott |

I would say no to the chiller on a 150 with a pair of 400's, if there is no enclosed canopy as long as the heat can rise away from tank you should see no difference. I have a 135 with a pair of 250's and the tank runs the same temp as it did when I had jusy 220W of PC lights...
