I read a post the other day that, i think had a link to an article about a study of the best commercial salt mixes and a review of each. Does anyone know where I read this article? Or atleast which was recommended as "the best".
Thanks
By the way, this probably isn't the article you're talking about, but for anyone else, it should be the first that they read on the subject... IMHO!![]()
I made it a special point not to remember or record the reference to two studies done these last 5-7 years.
The reasons for this position is this:
The two 'studies' were shrouded in controversy. Claims made and launched about improper procedures, non-independent work, poor protocols, meaningless tests, and insufficient information was just some of the elements of the controversy surrounding these studies.
But most importantly, these studies were conducted 3-7 years ago. Between then and now the salt formulas have almost all changed. The salt formulas are in constant re-evaluation and re-design by the manufacturers. New blending techniques, new salts, and the discovery of new essential elements all push the makers to update their salts to remain competitive. So what do those studies prove for today's salts?
I would not make a decision on what salt to use based upon any study I'm aware of, at this point in time.![]()

Ya that article in RHO is Eric TEASING us for the next issue where I hope results will be disclosed.
I was at a conference this year where Eric had mentioned one salt in his test had turned PEE YELLOW when left to mix over time with NO BIO LOAD. Weird huh? All I can say is that Can't be good!
I have tried most every brand over the years and keep going back to Reef Crystals.
