clown tang is a little banged up

i bought a pretty clown tang recently and my yellow tang that was already in the tank beat up on him a little bit (i knew this was a possibiliy when i bought the clown tang). anyways from running from the yellow tang the clow tang has a small scape on its stomach area. if the yellow tang has finally accepted the clown tangs presence and the clown tang is eating fine and seems ok should i just let it heal on its own or is there something i should add to the food or water that would help insure a safe recovery. thanks .

    Thanks for posting.

Generally, with good and proper nutrition, the fish will take care of healing itself from such injury. There is another parameter and that is environmental conditions. So, besides nutrition, the environment must not be putting additional stress on the fish. That is the key: additional stress.

Given proper nutrition and low 'other' stresses, the fish will heal. In the meantime, verify the foods and diet according to this: Feeding Marine Fish and Fish Nutrition

then, also add some beta glucan to the food for the next 10 days. Beta glucan is gotten from a (human) health food store.

Then, after doing the above, sit back and monitor the injury. If it expands or changes in appearance, post again. You may wish to stock some antibiotic and have it on hand: Stocking the Marine Fish Medicine Cabinet

    Good luck!
