Arrow Online Fish Resources.

Hi Everyone!

The goal of this post is to create a continuously growing list of online resources in order to help newcomers and veterans alike gather information on current fish species in their tanks or to acquire information on species they wish to keep. If you have a link to some good info please post it here.

Things Needed:

  • Classification
  • Distribution
  • Description
  • Habitat
  • Feeding
  • Biology
  • what ever else may be relevant…

The link below will help you to find just about any fish you can think of. After you search for the fish you can click on the species name to get even more information to include a picture.

I use fishbase for a lot of info gathering but it's more of a scientific site which is great, but for keeping a reef tank or something along those lines there is no direction given. I have some books but usually when I'm researching a fish I search the scientific name in google and read as many pages as I can until I can find enough of the same information to make a decision.
I'd be interested in seeing this list grow.

Samper,

Yes the fishbase site is really great resource. If you are looking to set up a biotope for example, say The Great Barrier Reef. You can get a list of fish that reside in just that area. Definately a useful tool.......

The site is doo-doo. Reefland isn't even mentioned in the top 100 sites! I happen to think it is #1!
