Exclamation Clown has something I have never seen?

It looks like where he defecates from there is a big round (mosquito bite) with a white dot in the center. It looks swollen with puss in it but I am not sure? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Has the fish ever been de-wormed or treated for dinoflagellate infections of the intestines? Even if the fish has so been treated, if it was put in with fishes that haven't been so treated, it could have picked up such things.

Worm and/or dinoflagellate infections can lead to secondary bacterial and opportunistic infections.

I'd separate the fish from the others (quarantine/hospital tank) and treat with an antibiotic (I favor either Maracyn Two for Saltwater fishes, or Nitrofurazone (the Aquatronics’ product: Furacyn, and in Spectrogram) since they are each absorbed through the fish's skin and enter the fish) AND Metronizazole (one product is Flagyl) AND Praziquantel.

Treating the display with an antibiotic is not good. Keep in mind also that the puffer doesn't have scales and is more sensitive to water quality. It's best to move the fish to a hospital tank for the treatment AND to reduce the likelihood of infecting the puffer.

Thank you Leebca, I will go buy some maracyn 2. How long should I treat him for in the hospital tank? Should I give double the dose, as I have heard that is better?

Thanks

Also, just a question could I try the Anti-Bacteria Medicated food by "Jungle" it says its for Internal and external bacterial infections? Because the fish did eat some when I put it in?

It's hard for some antibiotics to get past the fish's stomach digesting juices. You want this particular treatment to make it all the way to the anal opening. I wouldn't trust ingested antibiotics to do this.

Read the directions for the Maracyn Two for Saltwater fish. Double the initial dose. The treatment of that particular antibiotic is 5 days. It may be repeated another 5 days if the problem doesn't clear up.

The worm treatment with Praziquantel lasts 6 days. 6 days after a good first dose, dose them again with Praziquantel. Use the Metronizazole according to that med's instructions.

Will do! So you are saying to treat him with both medications at the same time?

Actually I'm saying to treat the fish with all three medications at the same time. The Praziquantel and Metronizazole will be put into the fish food; the antibiotic will be put into the water.
