dead crab!!!
today I found adead crab on my life rockes..........I didnt know that I have this crab cause I havent seen it befor .
its color is purple (nice) , I m asking my self why this crab is dead what happend in my tank? the answer is that I did somthing yesterday: 1-I but some Magnesium in the sump as the shop advise me to add it weekly to get healthy alge and healthy live rocks(the dose was correct and less than the instructions) 2-I add a ph buffer (high quality) that will rise the dkh and my water is 8.1 ph (yesterday 8) so the change is only .1 all my fishes are doing normal so are my shrimps , the test of amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 bye the way the test of amonia NO2 NO3 is always 0 every day I do the test it is 0 , you know I have about 100 kg live rockes in my tank I have powerful skeemer and my green alge are growing fast every week I do cut this alge . dose that means my tank is muter now (it is about three months) and I remeber now the base is from high quality live sand. I but some damsels month ago they do great and growing , then I but one bicolor angel 14 days ago as atest (the angel was qtanked for one month befor) and the angel looks great too it spends most the time eating the green alge on the tank wall and rocks and I tryed to feed it some frozen food and some other food but the angel likes only the fresh alge . I mean can I but another angel(not dwarf) or butterfly ?I m waiting for the day that I can but auniqe fishs in my show tank just like 1-ACANTHURUS ACHILLES 2-POMACANTHUS CHRYSURUS and if any one sujests for me a uniqe fishes I ll be grateful. |

If I recall, your aquarium is about 180 gallons?
I'm concerned about the magnesium additions. Have you been doing tests to verify that you need to add this? You should be testing for magnesium before you decide to add it. Magnesium, alkalinity, calcium, and pH are all connected. Like is explained in that article I linked you to when you were having pH problems. So, you don't want to add or change any of these things without testing for it first to verify that an addition is needed. Before you proceed to add any additional fish, I would perform a magnesium test to show it is in the proper range. After you have this number, you may want to consider some of the more hardy and reliable fishes. With regards to the grow of macro algae, magnesium is not that important to it. As trace elements go, iron is about the one addition to add for the sake of macro algae growth. But like I mentioned above, even the addition of iron should be done after you test for it and decide more is needed. The best success with these aquariums is to make changes ONLY when a test result says a change or addition is needed. It is not too good to just follow bottle directions or to follow instinct -- the thing to do is measure/test before making additions; then to add only what is needed according to the measure/test results.

The choice of fishes is very personal. I prefer Butterflyfish, Tangs, and Angels (in that order). I enjoy patterns as much as I enjoy colors. So I find the Burgess Butterflyfish just as attractive, for instance, as the more colorful Copperband. Maybe not so spectacular, but I find the Red Sea Raccoon Butterflyfish to be very attractive. As for delicate coloring, nothing can be the Tangs.
I don't dislike the large Angelfishes, but they can be difficult. In the 180 one should do well if you can properly quarantine it and get it eating proper foods. I like the Blue Face, Emperor, and Blue Line the most.
