Deworming...
Lee, this question is primarily for you. The Praziquantrel links in your sticky threads all refer to treatment doses for the QT water. Is this the same med to be used in the food? Also, should I be soaking the food in a small amount of water with the prescribed dosage of meds? Exactly how is prazi administered?
I've got a pair of percula's and a blue dot jawfish in seperate QT's and want to make sure this is done right. Thanks Rob |

Re: Deworming...
Praziquantel first became widely used for pond fish treatments. So it was administered to the water.
If you're using the actual Praziquantel and not any of the alternate medications, then put it directly into the food. You put in 23 mg of Praziquantel for every pound of fish. So if your fish is 8 ounces, you'd use 12 mg. You want the right amount of Praziquantel in the amount of food the fish will eat at one feeding. The quantity is very small. It will often stick to a moist frozen food, or you can push it into a gelled food. You wait 6 days, then treat again, the same amount, the same way. Did this answer your question? If this still isn't clear, please let me know.
