    blue tang scratching against rock

Hi, my blue tang is scratching against the rock. Also, last night i saw what looks like very small, very very faint white spots, i was not sure if he was just a little bit dirty or he/she is starting to get ich. I suspect that he got this from a brown tang which i bought 4 days ago which has ich but i immedeately removed as soon as i saw it had ich.

Since i dont have QT and i dont want to kill it and there are no off the shelf medicine i can buy here, the only available is this fish protector. the container said it coats the fish with some sort of protectant which 1. protects other fishes from getting sick and 2. helps heal them if they already sick.

I used it last night and now, it looks like the small white spots are gone, also, although the tang still scratches, it does it less frequent now and with less force. I hope this really is a good sign.

    Any comments on this?

Re: blue tang scratching against rock

Sorry to hear of the problems. Comments: The fish is ill. The tank is infected with the parasite. The coating doesn't help.

You may want to invest in a QT and start a quarantine process for your fishes, especially if you like Tangs.

Are you sure it is Marine Ich (Cryptocaryon irritans)? If it is, then there are really only three known cures and each requires a hospital tank (one method requires two hospital tanks). For more information, please take some time and please read this: Marine Ich - Myths and Facts

The parasite spreads faster than you can imagine.
