Flamehawk and new additions

Lee,

I noticed in another thread you mentioned difficulties adding new fish to a tank that had an already established hawkfish. We have a Flamehawk and are going to add a couple of fish to our tank eventually. The Flamehawk is well established, since Nov. 06, as the only fish in the tank. Any special precautions we should consider other than the typical (feeding before new introduction, lights out, etc.)?

The usual precautions should work. I'd acclimate the new arrival so that it is released into the display at night (assuming you have moon lights or minimal lighting during the night).

The primary caution is any fish the Hawkfish might consider to be food. Your fish is so used to having food added to the aquarium that it would logically think what you're putting in is more food.

Hey Scott, check this out.... Fish Acclimation Box - Michigan Reefers

Cheap, easy, and it works! I used one on my last Copperband addition, and the Purple Tang worked out all his aggression without being able to touch the butterfly.
