    Copperband Bfly

My copperband butterfly, who is in a 30g quarantine by himself, appears to have a whitish patch on both sides of his body, around his false eye spots. i remember seeing this with my first copperband right before he died when i had one in my 75 gallon tank. He also is not eating. there is not live rock in the tank. i have had him for about 5 days. I also cannot post pics my camera is broken. I have been treating the tank with pimafix, melafix, and quick cure. I have been trying to entice him to eat with frozen brine shrimp, and tomorrow i am going to buy live brine shrimp. any ideas what this is? it almost looks like lighter patches on both sides, but it is definitely not supposed to be there.

    Re: Copperband Bfly

Would you do some reading for me? Start with this post and thread:
Melafix and Pimafix - How They Work and Don't Work

The greatest likely problem is water quality. Do a 50% water change, no matter what test results say. Make sure your water change is done properly. Read this before doing your water change, just to be sure we are on the same wavelength.
how do I do a water change?

The second likely problem is bacterial infection. The water change will help this.

You've got to try and find something or somethings wrong with the water quality and then fix it. IF YOU ARE SURE the water quality is perfect, then the fish should be treated with an antibiotic. However, the likelihood of this being bacterial in nature is MUCH less likely than a water quality issue.

Even when this condition is brought on by a bacterial problem, it is still often based on less than perfect water quality. These Butterflyfish need top water quality.

I'm glad the fish is in your QT!
