Brooklynella

Will Paraguard cure brooklynella? I have treated the clown in a small tank with paraguard and saltwater. I kept him in the solution for 30 minutes, he started looking stressed so i removed him and put him back inthe main tank. I do not have a QT tank as of yet. All water parameters check out and no other fish are sick. How many dips should I do in how many days? Thanks!

Re: Brooklynella

I've never known Paraguard to cure brooklynellosis. In fact, I've not known Paraguard to cure half the things it claims to cure. It has been used with success against some parasites, but then, the parasites that can be treated with alcohols and Malachite Green are few.

The only treatment for brooklynellosis is the one given below:

Using the above method, 3 dips are usually good enough, but it can be done up to 5 times. I cannot recommend any other treatment. The treatment must be done with close attention to all the details mentioned in the above link.

I could not get to that link as it said the server is overloaded, unfortunately the clown died an hour after I released him back into the main tank.

Re: Brooklynella

Sorry for your loss. Brooklynellosis can kill quickly.

If you like Anemonefish and think about getting another, I suggest giving them the treatment whether you think they are ill or not, while the fish is going through its quarantine process. These fishes so often this disease that it not worth pretending they are fine. Just treat them.
