Prego Firefish??

My Firefish has been hunkered down at the bottom of the tank for about a week now. I have noticed it's belly is fatter than normal. It is still eating normally but does not go up into the water column in it's usual place.

It is the only one I have, so has anyone ever seen a prego firefish? Is this possible?

I have been trying to get a better shot but the angle is killing me.

Re: Prego Firefish??

Don't know what a pregnant one looks like or the likelihood yours is pregnant, being a single fish. You didn't mention how long you've had this fish and whether or not you kept it in quarantine before putting into your display.

A distended abdomen is usually a bacterial infection (internal) or an intestinal disorder.

If the fish is still swimming 'normally' in the upright position, then you can usually rule out an infection of the swim bladder.

Re: Prego Firefish??

The fish has been in the tank for 4 months. The fat belly has just come on in the last week. The fish is swimming and eating find. When I try to get a good pic it swims to the other side of the reef just like it always has when the camera is in it's face. It has been back up in the water column this morning.
