Pbt 48 Hour Progression

I posted yesterday...here is what the pictures look like for 48 hours.

Now.....WHAT IS THIS?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated! He eats, he's swimming fine, but hovers in one area under a table coral. Fins are erect, eyes are clear. I'm just stumped! Please add any thoughts.

Thanks,
Phil

Re: Pbt 48 Hour Progression

The fish may be eating, but not correctly or the nutrients aren't going to the fish. I can see its 'spinal bone' segments!

Most likely there is a surface bacteria or viral pathogen going crazy on its surface flesh. The best thing would be to move the fish to a hospital tank and treat with an antibiotic. It appears that if the fish doesn't get treatment very quickly, it will likely die.

Pbt Picture Today

He's still swimming and eating. Flesh appears to be shedding.

I just don't see diet cusing something that moves this quickly!

Re: Pbt Picture Today

Here is hoping your PBT a speedy recovery Phil. I have no idea what to think of it, other than it looks pretty serious. It is a positive that it is eating and moving though.

Re: Pbt 48 Hour Progression

There are a few very virulent types of bacteria that will 'eat the flesh' of fishes. There are also mycobacterium and species of vibrio. Not able to recommend any particular antibiotic since in this case it should be specific for the infection. Probably the best is still to move it to a treatment tank and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Good luck!

You've got to get him out! Place in quarantine/hospital tank; use anti-biotics and feed tons and tons of good stuff. Powder Blues are sooo difficult to take care of.

He passed on to the Great Reef in the Sky last night. Thanks for all of your thoughts.

Re: Pbt 48 Hour Progression

It's interesting (or sad) to see people ask for help and when help comes, they decide to do nothing about it. Just feel sorry for the fish.

Thanks for sharing the disease pictures so I can learn some more about a new disease I have not seen before.
