My qt setups

I have a few qt tanks setup at the moment. At first I had a few fish together because they came in together but I had some disputes so they are now seperated. I thought I'd show one of the qts off. It's a very simple 20 gallon. For flow I have a MJ 400 and a small bio wheel cartridge filter. It is by no means a strong flow. I have been running carbon cartridges but removed the bio wheels. I have air pumps, simple sponge filters and visi therm stealth heaters. The tops are covered on the sides with acrylic to prevent jumpers and the middle for ventilation has a strip of egg crate running the length of the aquarium. I mounted small lights to the acrylic and they shine through the blue plastic that is still on the sheets. It gives a nice soft glow but puts out no heat so no worries of a fire. Inside I have added fake coral deco and some 1.5" pvc elbows. Here are some pics.

Parameters in them
SG 1.008-1.009
pH 8.1...maintained by slowly dripping a solution of RO/DI and Sodium bicarbonate that I baked for 30 minutes.
Temp 79 F

A 50 percent WC is performed once a week in addition to the bottom siphoned daily...approx 1 liter changed every day. I feed 3X a day a variety of foods to ensure the fish have the proper nutrition and are healthy. Enjoy

Re: My qt setups

That's a pretty neat setup. How are you dripping the RO and Sodium Carbonate? At what rate? and also how much carbonate to water?

Thanks for sharing.

Re: My qt setups

I am dripping it with a homemade doser that I made out of a rubbermaid. The drip rate is pretty slow....I'd say about 20 drops per minute for not more than an hour at a time. The pH is monitored with a probe and I just start the drip when it's needed. A couple of table spoons of the baking soda for a few gallons of water is enough to raise the pH of the effluent.
