sick percula?
over this last week my clown fish has started to look like he's starving. his face is sunken in and appears thin.
oddly he eats every time i put food in, and ive been over doing it trying to fatten him up this week. i feed him every day a mix of marine flakes and frozen mysis shrimp at least 2 or 3 times. as i said he gobbles up everything i put in front of him but he appears to just be getting thinner, i dont know if he will be around much longer any info would be appriceated, am i doing something wrong? all my water parameters are perfect 0 nitrite nitrate ammonia ph 8.2 temp 79 |

Re: sick percula?
Tim,
I think you might be sensing what the problem is -- the fish is getting the wrong foods. Although internal problems like intestinal parasites and tumors may detract from the fish's nutritional intake you have to begin by addressing nutrition. This is a long writing, but worth reading: Feeding Marine Fish and Fish Nutrition Once you understand the right kinds of foods, the next is the food form. You want, like the above linked post indicates, to favor frozen and gelled foods (not flake or pellet). Then you want to add supplements -- fats and vitamins -- also expanded in the above link. Lastly, since the fish is eating, you want to de-worm the fish just to be sure there are no intestinal parasites there trying to take up the nutrition. This post will guide you on how to do that and. . .good news. . .You can de-worm your fish without having to move it and while you are doing all the above: Strange Excrement from Fish -or- How to be a Super Pooper Snooper As you have mentioned -- you may have to hurry with adjusting the food and doing the de-worming. The fish may not have much energy in reserve. Good luck!
