    Poor little black clown!

    Hi Lee,

I haven't needed your services for a while now but I'm back!
So what happened is one of my daughter's Occelaris clowns took a dive in the wrong direction so about 6 weeks ago she bought a black clown fish that came from ORA, (she was told that it would get along with her remaining clown, I'm not so sure of that) He was in great shape, ate well in the QT, didn't show any signs of sickness bla bla bla and she said he was bought before he made it into the LFS tanks.

Anyways last week she acclimated him to her tank and he was beaten to a pulp for about 3 days straight so she called the LFS and they said it would pass eventually So a few days ago I went down to feed them and decided he had enough (fins all frays, no tail fins almost down to the meat) I pulled out the poor little guy and put him back in the QT. He's looking much more calm and swimming around freely

My question after all this is how long will it take for his fins and tail to heal, is there something that could be added to the water to help him along?

Click my avatar to see my tank, it's getting so perdy!!

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him how to fish and you get rid of him all weekend.

    Re: Poor little black clown!

Fish heal remarkably well, considering they are captive and what we put them through.

I don't know just how bad is the fin condition. But speaking in generalities: If the fish is getting proper nutrition, fat and vitamin supplements, in high quality water with few or very low stresses, the fins should look as good as new within a couple of weeks. Very small or subtle fin problems can disappear in a couple of days.
