    One Spot Foxface; stress coloration.

    Hello, Reefland.
Recently, I added a One Spot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus). While watching this fish, I've noticed that it has retained it's stressful coloration, and it has excluded itself from the rest of the tank by hiding behind rocks.
It IS a new fish to my aquarium, however, I've never had this problem in my past experiences with my tank which has been set up for two years.
I've tested my water, and made sure there are no harmful chemicals.
Is it normal for this species to be so reclusive upon adding it to the tank?

    Hi Little_Aquarist,

Is it normal for this species to be so reclusive upon adding it to the tank?
Yes, it is quite normal for just about any species of fish upon introduction.
I have my rabbitfish for about five years now and it still spookes very easily. Mine is different species than your rabbitfish but they behave quite the same.
It should begin to relax and regain it;s normal coloration if you step back far enough from the front glass. Just sit back and observe it without moving much.
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

Yes, that is quite normal for that species. It will get over it's shyness in a few days. Even after it has adapted to your aquarium, it may take on it's nighttime coloration every now and then for no apparent reason. If you want to bring it out of it in a hurry, just drop some food into the tank. It will revert to normal coloration within two or three seconds.

What size tank do you have?

    Sorry for the double post!
My mobile phone was messing up.
And I have a 75 Gallon aquarium, Ninong.
Also, thank you so much for your help advice Zhenya, and Ninong!
It has started so scout around a little bit with it's normal brilliant yellow color.
<3 Thank you so very much.
