    Sick Fish?

I just noticed one of my fish was hiding in the back of the tank. When he came to the front I noticed him breathing a little fast, he was moving kind of sluggish and he has a red streak like marking on both of his eyes. No MI noticed. What can this be and how do I treat it?

What type of fish? Can you provide pics?

You should start preparing a medical tank and filter for it if you don't have one.

Honestly I wish I could tell you the name of it but I really don't remember. It looks like a tiny angel with long skinny fins, it has black and white stripes with white little specks all over and their eyes buldge out a bit. That's as best as I can describe it. I have a medical tank but this happned within a few hours. He was fine when I got home at 3:30 and after dinner he was half dead.

Try to provide a picture because that way we can identify your fish and also see what is going on with it.

A photo is important. While waiting, move the fish to a hospital tank and obtain some fish antibiotic, like Spectrogram, or Maracyn Two for Saltwater fishes and while we wait for a photo you will be prepared to act.

    ok.

Send us your water test readings for every test you've got.

Has anything changed in the tank recently? When did you do your last water change? What's the source of your water? How old is your tank? How long did you have your fish? Is it still eating? Are you treating it with any meds now?

What else is in your tank? (include all cleaning crew, fish, etc.) If you don't know names, describe them and get pics when you can.

Is your fish in quarantine now?

Lee will likely be the one to advise you on what you should do. He'll need to know everything possible about your fish and tank...

    Re: Sick Fish?

Hey guy's thanks for your help, unfortunatley that fish died the very next morning. He turned out to have a red circular ring on both eyes, some of the fins looked decayed. All the other fish are doing fantastic with no further problems. I inserted a link to the picture I posted of the othe pair of that fish that died. A friend of mine gave them to me but I have no idea what it is. The one that died was it's pair.. Thanks.

    Re: Sick Fish?

Sorry about your loss. It may take a few weeks before the other fish show signs of whatever it was. Be ready for it next time.

    Re: Sick Fish?

Here's a link to your Cardinal fish. Not sure if you have any others or will replace it. Figured it could help.

Are their any other fish in your tank that you don't know the species of?

    Re: Sick Fish?

Seige, thanks for the the link. I really appreciate the feedback. I'm really not planningon replacing it, I actually bought those two as a test cause those are the first 2 fish I bought since an Ick outbreak a month ago and so far no Ick and the others are doing very well. I also have 2 clowns, 2 blue damsels and a siz line wrasse.
