my fish has tail and fin rot...??

my fish's tail fell off...it had Ich and now I noticed the tail fell off! Some people are recommending i treat my tank with Maracyn plus..is this safe for my tank? I have some polyps a mushroom, a feather dusty, pulsing xenia, 2 clowns, rainsford goby, and a lawnmower blenny my tank is a 55 gallon?? I hope this is enough information and if anyone else has suggestions please let me know!!!!

I would like to know how you treated for Marine Ich? Did you treat with anything or did you choose to not treat it?

Move the fish to a quarantine tank and there treat it with Maracyn Two for Saltwater fish (not the same as Maracyn Plus). Also, please answer my questions above. Thanks.

Hi thanks for the reply..it ended up with ich and the tail rot soo quickly within 2 days it had tail rot we treated it with the dip thing? where you put it into fresh water for 5 min and then back into the tank......that obviously didn't work because it died last night! I seem to be getting mixed signals from everyone.......I don't know where to turn anymore! ARRGHHHH everyone has such differences in what they think! Like I said before I am new at this and boy is it hard....My attempt was going to be to treat it with that maracyn two but some ppl told me it wasn't good!!! I also don't have another tank set up to be able to treat it! I am soo confused!!! But thanks for your reply anyway!

I'm sorry for your confusion, and for getting mixed signals. I can't tell you whose advice to follow, but I can tell you how to determine which advice you should follow. Follow the advice and recommendations from a person who:

1. Had decades of experience keeping marine lifeforms in their home (not shop);
2. Has education from college in one of the sciences (biology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.);
3. Has additional extended education and training from veterinarian college courses on specifically, ornamental fish husbandry;
5. Has nothing to sell; has no connection to make money from you or the hobby; and
4. Someone who you have proof of their background and abilities.
