    3. now i have a purple tang it has a ich..

it just the purple tang has it and my 4 clowns does not.. i have this medication called MetroPlex by seachem i dose it today and i turn off my canister filter so right now just my 2 powerhead are working right now..

i did a water change last night just 5%.. and im plnnning to do 15 tommorow... so if i do the water change am i eliminating the medication???

You need to do a fresh water dip, Check out leebca's post on the hows and whys to do a fresh water dip.

brix you should have looked into keeping tangs more carfully they are very acceptalbe to getting ick, were your clowns are more hardy(its hard to kill a clown), I dont know if metroplex is the right thing fot ick iv never used the stuff. Have you removed the purple tang to a qt tank yet?

Can't answer your question, unless you tell us the size of the aquarium you have -- how much water in the entire system?

Without knowing this, I can say that the water change has to be over 80% of the total volume. Small water changes just dilutes the additive and doesn't really remove it. You need to perform a very large water change. Since it will be a big one, follow these guidelines: How to Make a Successful Water Change

You are under mis-information if you think the other fish are not infected. The other fish in the aquarium are also infected, it's just that you don't see it. They have to be cured and treated -- all fish in the aquarium.

You need to learn about this parasite. Begin by reading this:
Marine Ich - Myths and Facts

In general, from your post, it doesn't seem like you are able to keep Tangs. If you want help with that, provide a lot more information about your system in a separate post in the Reeflands Forum > Saltwater Aquariums Forum

I suggest you read the Quarantine tank setup guides. First get a sponge filter and stick it in your main tank for use when the quarantine tank is needed. Then slowly buy the tank, heater, thermometer, etc at discount (until there's a rush, but everything). At least your sponge filter will be ready with helpful bacteria.
