QT Setup

hi i have had a qt setup for 4 days with water and sponge seeded from my main tank which was in there for about a week.

my readings are ok except nitrite which is at about 0.25mg/l, would i be better off just letting the tank continue the cycle or would it cycle quicker if i done some big water changes ?
there are no fish in there yet, i am just waiting for the tank to cycle first.

If you do not have an emergency use of the QT, that is, if you have no fish that needs a treatment, then just let the QT run, with a weekly 15%-20% water change. You should however, be adding fish food to the tank in such a way that you can siphon it out in a few days.

IF however the tank is needed to quarantine a sick fish, it is best to perform water changes and get the fish into the QT now.

i have a clown that was showing white spot symptoms but he seems to be improving, so my plan is to wait for the QT to cycle before i move all of my fish.

If the fish is infected with Marine Ich, it needs immediate treatment.
