New Black clown fish with lesion on his face

I just recently purchased a black adult clownfish about a week ago. I did not realize (i was in a hurry when i bought him) that he had a marking on his face. It is near his right gill and now it is like his skin is torn open. He is eating however he can not close his mouth and he looks pretty beat up now. Reading other postings it was suggested that maybe it is lymphocystis. I was just wondering if some more people could help me out by looking at a picture of him.

My tanks perimeters are all normal and I only have 2 other baby clowns in their with him. They have no signs of any disease.

    Thanks

    WELCOME TO REEFLAND!

Sorry your first post was with a fish problem.

It doesn't look quite the same a Lymphocystis to me. The area isn't as mis-shaped as Lymph usually is. That is, what I see is a uniform kind of shape. However I may be wrong. The photos are a bit distant and unclear. Lymph would appear to be totally sitting on the surface of the fish -- this seems to be protruding from under the fish's skin. But -- I may not be getting a good sight on it.

Could well be a tumor or some other fluke kind of condition. I would return it rather than trying to invest the $$ to help the fish. They shouldn't have sold such a fish to you.

However, if that isn't an option, you'll need to begin treatment in a quarantine tank, with fluke meds. If the condition is tumorous, there is no cure for the marine ornamental fish. Keep in mind that if it is fluke or worm based, the other fish are at risk.

Re: New Black clown fish with lesion on his face

Thanks for all your tips. I quarantined him very shortly after your response because his lesion started bleeding. Unfortunately, I was not able to take him back to LFS that I bought him at because I am going to college 4 hours away from the store. He seemed to be doing better after a few days but I lost him the next day. I don't know whether to whatever parasite/disease he had or to malnutrition because he didn't seem to be eating.

It is unfortunate because I bought the black perc with two orange babies ( 1 being slightly bigger then the other) so they would all get along.

Now having only the 2 clowns, I hope when I put a new fish with them they don't bully it
