Very old thread, but your problem is new, so...

The right food will be anything he'll eat. Get a variety of frozen food for carnivores, and make sure to get some frozen krill, and a feeding prong.

The feeding prong will help simulate live food.

Lionfish are nightime feeders, so attempt feeding him at different hours and at different light levels.

Give us some history of your tank and this Lionfish. What size tank, equipment, how long it has been running, etc.

    How is your water quality?

Thanks Todd, well I have a 75 gal Bow front, about 125 lbs live rock an under gravel filter, with power jets, a sea clone 150 and an emperor 400 B I am also using a coral life t5 for lighting. Water is fine NEVER had too much problems with that I don't get much CRUD in my skimmer at all. I have a snowflake eel he is about 18 inches, loves squid. a Humu Humu Trigger will eat anything. a Spiny Serpentine starfish and of course my Red Volitan, I have seen him eat rosies and ghost shrimps which is usually what I feed him but my funds got low and I want to switch him to more natural foods or at least a good processed pellet type food.

    Re: Fedding LionFish

I moved your post from the old thread in the wrong Forum to a new thread in the right Forum.

Lionfish eat a wide variety of whole foods, including fish, crustaceans and benthic creatures (to a lesser extent). They are predators and eat the whole organism. As such, they shouldn't be fed every day but every other or third day. You should research what they eat on the Internet.

Just be sure to only feed things from the sea, not freshwater foods. Try live saltwater fish or as Todd mentioned, a prong to simulate movement. In general there are other tips on feeding fish in general given here:
