    Jewel Damsel fish

I bought an , what to apears to be, a adult Jewel Damsel fish ( the blue dots were tiny, but they are preaty visible), he has a yellow tail and a blue/dark body, maybe 3 to 4 inches.
Before geting it i had an Oceallaris Clown fish, wich, since i got the jewel in ( 2 days ago ) has been a little bit timid, he has been on the top of the water most of the time, swimmning down some times to catch the food.
On my observations, he seems to be geting better, less timid that is. The jewel is also timid, hiding behind the rocks and corals most of the time i get near the tank, making it difficult for me to take a good picture of him.

My question is, is this normal? will they eventually get along with each other, and stop hiding?

    Other observations:
Both fish eat, and still swim normaly.
The Jewel's geting more active each day, he seems to like to swim alot.

Would you live in a moderate size house with no bathroom? if not, then do what is right! Let your tank cycle for one month. Respect the fish! ;)

As beautiful as they are, only the juvenile Jewelfish is so marked. The adults are rather drab (in my opinion).

Not surprising the fish are not liking each other. The Anemonefish are a type of Damselfish. So, you have two Damselfishes in the same tank of different Genus. Considering how (in general) Damselfishes are in behavior and 'attitude' I would expect them to never get along, unless the tank space is very large with landscaping providing many 'out of sight' opportunities. Feeding in this case would need be done in multiple locations to avoid them coming into any more contact then they need to.

Hahaha, yes , the juvenile are nice, but i actually like the adult better
I i knew the clown was a damsel, i didn't came to think about that tought.
Surprisingly, i have seen them geting close without any problems today, i hope that its continues that way

    Re: Jewel Damsel fish

Jewels are very aggressive, unfortunately! They also tend to be characteristic of many other species of Damselfish. That being colorful and not very aggressive initially. But that soon changes as they become adults! Large size, boisterous behavior, dull and drab coloration and terror of your tank which all too often, we are unable to rid from our tanks without removing all the live rock and spending considerable time rearranging our tanks.
Jewels, Beau Gregories, Sargeant Majors, Dominos and Four- Stripes are a short list of some Damsels that are nice as juveniles but become problematic and drab color wise as they mature.
