    Ich treatment

Hi, I have a clown tang and it has ich. i quarentined it with a small cleaner shrimp but the shrimp wont do anything at all. the tang will even go and stay right next to the shrimp and it wont budge. what is the best way i could remove ich from my fish. I also have a paddlefin wrasse and a picasso trigger that are scratching up on the rocks and sides of my tank any ideas?

    Re: Ich treatment

I know there are people here that know way more than I do but I feel like I should just give my simple, proverbial "two cents." From my experience with Ich and reading expansive amounts I know that the cleaner shrimp will not remove the parasites, there are NO effect reef safe treatments, and all your fish will have Ich no matter what. You must quarantine these fish immediately. Take the time and allow your tank to go fishless for 8 weeks to allow for the parasites to die off. If your fish die in the quarantine tank, well that is something that will just happen, but they have a way better chance of living through the outbreak that way. If left alone in the main tank, the parasites will eventually "bloom" and may overtake even the healthiest of fishes.

Not only just QT them, but put them in hypo for 5-6 weeks. Oh and just your fish, inverts like shrimp dont get ich and wont survive in hypo anyway, so leave them in your DT.

    brandy,

What you need to do is follow this guideline: Curing Fish of Marine Ich

The closer and more accurately you follow the above guideline the greater your success at getting rid of this parasite, once and for all.
