    gobies

    hi guys.

I bought 2 watchmen gobies for my 90g. I have my old 55 set up as a qt tank right now. I took all of the LR out of the 55 and most of the sand. There is about 1/2 in of sand left. My concern is that my gobies will starve to death before I can move them to my 90. Any advice?

    Jeff

It is an error of thinking that fish will starve or are under big stressors while going through the quarantine process. If the process is done correctly, fish are not highly stressed. It's just that hobbyists project their own feelings onto fish and think 'my fish is unhappy.' This is wrong (and weird). ALL fish can and are to be quarantined. ALL fish can be accommodated for the quarantine process. For instance, if the fish needs to burrow, then pure silica sand can be used.

One of the 9 reasons for doing the quarantine process is to train the fish to eat prepared foods. There should be no substrate in the QT other than pure silica sand -- IF a substrate is needed.

Start the training process. There are several other posts to help with this:

Did you happen to ask whether your Watchman gobies were eating at the pet shop. Did you ask the employee to feed your fish to see for yoruself if they were eating. When a customer is debating whether or not to buy a fish, I will feed the fish so that the potential customer can see with his/her own eyes.
