    White growths on clownfish

Hi I'm new here and really could use some help with a problem I've been having with my clownfish. I've already treated him/her with formalin for brooklynella and I'm not sure if this is the same thing or something else. Regardless the formalin doesn't seem to help. So far he/she seems to be asymptomatic and is very active in the tank and eats regularly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here are a few pics:

    Re: White growths on clownfish

You wrote that the fish was already treated. Did you follow the treatment procedure found in this Forum or another? What exactly did you do for the Formalin treatment?

The fish should be in a quarantine tank or hospital tank right now, but the photos don't seem to indicate that. Part of my question above has to do with this, since a proper Formalin treatment is moving the fish to quarantine prior to the treatment.

Despite the good photos, I can't tell whether the formation is 'solid' or 'fuzzy.' If solid, I would assume it is likely Lymphocystis.

No known cure if it is Lymphocystis, but I’ve known the Neon Blue Goby (Elacatinus oceanops) to actually eat it off of some fishes. This is rarely fatal IF the aquarist takes positive action. This is a virus and usually hangs around the fish. Fishes that are weak or not getting the proper nutrition or are under considerable stress (or a combo of these) usually get this infection.

Remove as much stress from the fish as you can and be sure to be feeding it properly. Get it on the right nutrition with vitamin and fat supplements. See this post on nutrition:
Feeding Marine Fish and Fish Nutrition

If it's fuzzy it may be one of the fake fungal infections. If it is a real fungal infection -- we don't know how to cure marine fishes of this. If it is one of the fake fungal infections, it is treated with:
Nifurpirinol [a.k.a. Furanace] (which will affect nitrification) and which should be combined with Neomycin (a gram negative antibiotic)). You'd follow the medication instructions. While treating with these antibiotics, treat also once with Cupramine and control the copper concentration to remain at 0.4 ppm.

Check out some photos of fish with Lymph on the Internet or get better photos of the mouth area so we can tell if it is a solid-like mass or fuzzy and open.
