    Re: Frustrated...need help.

I've heard alot of good things about the seaclone, my lfs actually uses them and swears by them, so I will probably look into a couple others, but in the end am lookin at the seaclone skimmer.

As for the ich, my look on the freshwater dips as a solution, is that if the ich that's ready to hatch falls off in the bucket, and isnt able to hatch in the tank, then eventually..I use eventually with heavy emphasis..the DT should be clear of any ich parasites, as once they attatch to the fish and fall off in the bucket, they can not continue to reproduce in the tank...obviously..Yes, when I put the fish back in the tank it will get infected again, but eventually all of the ich will..should..be gone, as from what I've read they HAVE to find a fish to host on before they can reproduce.

Again, I know this is not the best way, but it's the way I may have to go. Going to look into getting a 10g aquarium or something for a QT.

There you go again with that stubbornness thing. Haha!

I gotta tell you, if I walked into a reefshop and saw Seaclones on their tanks, I'd turn right around and never look back.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

so i got a copper test an phosphate test kit. copper tested 0, and phosphate was between .5 and 1, which was expected as i have alot of hair algae.

also, ive decided on an octopus skimmer, and have ordered magnesium and calcium test kits.

Edit: I don't believe they use the seaclones on their reef tank, but recommended them for at least fish aquariums, this was before I was getting into reefs.

Also, I'm still not positive as to what killed my 2nd cleaner shrimp, but I think I may have a good idea. I had forgotten that the store had only gotten the shrimp a few hours before I got there, and it was a little shrimp. I believe this, combined with a shortened acclimation is probably what did him in, as my emerald crab and peppermint shrimp just molted both within the last couple days, and are doing just fine.

You got me curious so I purchased a coral banded shrimp. I floated him and put him on a 4 hour drip. He is in the tank now and even molted (could be from stress) Time will tell...

Octo makes a great skimmer. Good job!
