My 29 gal is infested with brown algae
After I do my monthly maintenance it comes back again...my lighting is a coralife t5 10,000K 31 watt
I have about 16 pounds of Fiji rock and 2 small pieces of soft coral
How can I reduce the algae?
Thanks

Is your tank just breaking in? Brown hair algae is common then. What kind of water do you use for your water chgs? Water params?
My clean up crew took to mine in a few days. You can probably use some more LR. I have a 29 G with about 36 lbs - 40 lbs.

This would be common in a newly setup aquarium and will lessen as the tank matures. Use snails that eat it. Reduce pollution (organics) and also check for dissolved silica.
The brown algae is really diatoms. They need dissolved silica to make their shells, so they need that. Don't worry about lighting. You can search the forums for more info on this. It's been posted many times. Search for posts by leebca.
