Help im doing Leebca hyposalinity treatment but ammonia stays high ?

help, i am doing this by the book and it all is good but my ammonia levels will not go down to 0 ,, im using a 25 gallon with two small pieces of base rock aka. dead rock, lol , and a bio wheel filter system , until i get my sponge filter in the mail, unfortunately there is not one near me to buy so i had to buy off ebay, lol my fish look fine and act fine and eat fine ,, been down to 1.09 for 5 days now , ,, and no salt grains showing , yeaahh

i got the ph doing ok ,, but water changes arent gettting rid of the ammonia (i did two back to back days of 10 gallons each time ), i also have a bag of purigen in the biowheel filtration system i am using ,, so should i use some amquel ? it is at .50 and was about .75 or .100 before the water change tonite

im a recovering throat cancer and heart attack person last year and i now have the time to do this due to my disabilities right now , i love it but until the ich got me ,, u best be sure i will follow the quaratine rule from now on, hahaha

thanks for any help also i posted on your sticky and reposted here being it was such an old post,, im a newb so forgive me for the double post , just want to keep my fish healthy

    First, congratulations on your recovery.

I'm not Leebca, and I'm the last person to give you an advice, but if you read the sticky posts one more time (especially regarding water changes), you will notice the proper way to changing water in order to get rid of ammonia.

First. Your ammonia is actually dropping with your water changes, but you're not changing enough water to remove all ammonia. You are removing only 10g from a 25g tank. The other 15g has ammonia in it. On top of that the fish is producing ammonia for you.

Second. I have a feeling you started your QT or Hospital tank without the water being cycled, or without any good bacteria "setup".

Third. Your sponge filter will not help much. The current filter is fine. You simply need to setup your QT way before you buy the fish. Those were the mistakes I made at least. Now that my DT is fully cycled and I have a cycled QT on stand by everything is much easier.

Hi, thanks for the nice words, my tank and fish were bought already setup for over a year ,, it was bought and moved to my home and then i decided to add a fishy, named dora, lol without qt,, so that is why i got it ,, and no i wasnt ready to buy a set up for qt , so basically i had throw them in there fast cause two were not looking good at all ,, im at .09 for 2 days now and the ammonia will never go back to 0 im exhausted to be honest, my ro system doesnt make water fast enough to do a 80% change daily ,, but im doing my best ,, im running sponge filter and hob biowheel filter , and now im gonna use some prime to try and help , but i can only do a water change every other day max to be honest ,, theres no stores near by ,, i did however buy a ro system from the filter guys ,just waiting for it to get here so i can get that water going faster hopefully , if u have any other ideas please lmk

so far they act ok , the ich isnt visible but the amonia is bad ,, one angel bicolor is acting a little funny today and usually is active hopefully tomorrow she will be better after another water change

The only thing I can tell you is that when you use Prime or Amquel Plus the ammonia will show up on your test. The difference is the ammonia that is going to show up is supposedly not toxic anymore.
