    Qestion for Leebca and or anyone else that knows , lol

    im in the middle of setting up a 125 now cause im hooked, lol so my question is u know i had the ich in my DT ,, i would like to use the water and live rock to kick start my bigger tank ,, if i took my water and live rock out and let it sit in a tub without a heater and filtering would the ich if any die permanently and will the live rock and bacteria that is good be ok , '

    also is there another way i could use these two things faster without any possiblilities of the ich still being alive ?

    thanks in advance

    If the items has not been in contact with fish for at least 8 weeks, then there should be no living Marine Ich parasites, just as has been written.

    If you're starting up a new system, then it should not have any fish in it for the first couple of months, anyway, which should take the above into account. I'm hoping you'll follow these guidelines: Setting Up a FOWLR Aquarium

    If you proceed slowly, deliberately, and with a thought-out plan, it will be a success!

    Re: Qestion for Leebca and or anyone else that knows , lol

    well so far i have started upping the salinity on my hypo fish it is at 1.012 now over 3 days , so far so good cross your fingers, lol so i assume when i get it to 1.022 i have to wait at least 4 weeks by your read then they should be cured , right? so then i would want to put them in my new 125 ,, that is why i asked is there any way i could put the rock sand and water in a bucket and either cook them and or make them cold to be sure it is all ich free,

    , i did read the 8 weeks but i made a mistake well actually trying to help a friend out and i put his fish in my dt after only 6 weeks so the ich started over again ,, his fish is ok and in hypo at his house now but it was his choice and i told him that ich could and probably is still present even after 5 weeks of fishless but it sort of screwed me cause now ich has been revived in my tank and i have to either wait another 8 weeks or if u know of a way i could get it done in the next 5 weeks, lmk thanks

    Only thing to do is start the clock over again for your DT. If you tried to sterilize the rock and substrate, you would kill your biological filter and have to start from scratch cycling.
    Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

    If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

    The clock needs to start over again, then. 8 weeks is your target, but there are conditions:
    1. The temperature of the system must be 'normal' tropical temps (78 to 82F);
    2. Leave lights on as usual;
    3. Keep circulation going as usual; and
    4. Keep rock and substrate alive by feeding the life therein/on.

    Keep this thread on this one topic, and your treatment in the other thread, so as not to confuse readers.

    so basically being im planning on getting new sand and live rock for the 125 , i may as well just use all new water to and let it cycle for a month or so and i guess i could use the water and stuff from the hypo fish to help get the good bacteria going in the 125?

    and i just leave the other one fishless for 8 weeks again ,, dang ich sucks time wise , u would think someone would come out with a product that kills the little buggers without killing anything else by now, its been around for along time ,,its almost like cancer it doesnt want to die , lol

    Enlarging a system is very close to starting over. Equipment is new and has to be sized for the larger system. Lighting, decorations, rock, substrate, etc. all have to be expanded and are not setup for performing full biological filtration. Pretend like the system is new.
