    More sick fish. Help please.....

We have two clowns that we bought about 2 months ago. They have both got cotton ball like growths, one on the fin, on the side, and the other under it's mouth. We have been feeding flakes with garlic, and supplementing them with vitamin c. Both have gotten somewhat better, with fewer growths now. About a week ago, my husband seen that our yellow head sleeper goby was somewhat bent. He tested the water, like he does everyday, and seen that our ph had crashed. Could the goby have gotten sick because of the ph crash, or should we think it could be tb? We have also lost all but one of our 6 snails. We are very new to this, and doing the best that we can, but apparently we are still to new and need some help. Any advice?

A true fungal infection is not an easy thing for a marine fish to contract. However, a drop in pH can open up many chances for opportunistic microbes (like fungus) to gain a foothold.

If it's 'true' fungus, it may not be something you can cure. However, the good news is that the 'non-true' fungus is something that can be cured. First, you want to try and be sure of the diagnosis. That is, separate it as a fungal-like growth from viral diseases which have a similar appearance.

Determine if it looks like Lymphocystis. You'll find fish photos on the Internet that have this condition. The white to gray clumps look either like a mulberry or cauliflower-like. The fungal-like condition would however have a fluffy, stringy, appearance. In a fungal-like infection, the fungus grows out from the fish in thread-like extensions.

So, can you clarify what it looks like? or post a clear, up close photo.

While I wait for this, you need to be feeding your fish better foods and control the water quality better. These are additional posts to read and follow:

SPECIALLY NOTE: Information regarding pellet, flake, and disc foods, check under the heading of Flake, Pellet, Stick, and Disk Foods in the above linked post.

If the aquarium is very small, that will be a problem for these fishes, too. Many hobbyists try to put them in small aquariums.

Thank you Lee! I did read your post on feeding your fish, and have since drove quite a ways to get some new food for my little guys. I am quite sure it is Lymph, but I will try to post a picture as soon as I can. What is your recommendation when treating Lymph? They are acting as normal, so I didn't know if putting them in our QT was necessary. I don't want to stress them. And none of the other fish are showing any signs. Would a square, 45 gallon display tank be considered too small for one goby, two small clowns, and a lawn mower blenny? Thanks for your time....

I put my recommendations regarding Lymphocystis in this post, so you should get all you need from it: Lymphocystis

You don't mention the kind/species of Anemonefish you have. I always base a response regarding stocking limits based on the fish's final adult size. I put most of that into this post: Fish Stocking Limit - for FO and FOWLR

Depending upon the actual kind of Anemonefish and Goby you have in mind I would not want to sound too definite. However, it seems like you may still have room for another small fish.
