copper treatment for live rock fish tank?

hi all! i have a live rock fish only tank. Other than the live rock, 5 litre of bio-ring is used for filtration. Recently i found the fishes are suffered from ich. As there is no reef and invertebrate in my tank, do you think i can use copper treatment for the tank? any suggestion?

You could. But if you do, it would not be able to support Corals after that. The copper gets into the glass and the rocks.

Please read through this post: Curing Fish of Marine Ich

If you choose one of the traditionally guaranteed cures/treatments for your fish, and initiate a quarantine process after that, you will be able to keep this and many other parasites out of your display system.

Adding copper medication to a system with Live Rock will turn the LR to base rock, killing the invertebrates living in and on the rock, as well as the pods and many other life forms it brought into your display tank. The usual event following will be an ammonia and nitrite spike that will kill your fish. In addition, the copper will precipitate (come out of solution) and attach to carbonate based materials, which usually include the LR and substrates common to the marine system. There will be residual copper in the system to prevent many mobile invertebrates, like snails and pods from living there in the future.

thanks for help! i never think of any medication that could cure marine ich and also does not affect invertetable/ reef. dont know if there is any shop in hong kong selling this product, i must try this next time.

In fact, this is the second time my tank having marine ich. last time i took all the live rocks out of tank and place them into the container with cover for a month. i used copper in the displayed tank. after i read some of article posted in this website, i just know that copper would remain in the tank even change of the water and clean up the tank thorough. therefore, i think the live rocks in my tank have already been affected by the copper residue.

i think i just use copper in the display tank with presence of fishes and live rocks.

Sure, if you have copper already present in the tank, it can't hurt. Just don't overdose.
