what is Xenia?

I know you know

During my search, trying to read and learn, how the people changing the tank water, why their tanks are crashed during or after a while from changing the water, Some answered it might be due to Xenia, while in another search, some wants to add them in their reef tank! While it has very bad smell!

Can you please explain it to let me understand?

I don't understand either. Xenia is just a coral that grows like a weed.

In the Marine Fish Care Forum we deal with marine fish care. You will or may get more information about invertebrates from posting in the Reef Aquariums Forum where they discuss corals and invertebrates.

Having said the above. . .Xenia do no pose any kind of negative impact on the marine system, as far as I know. The pulsating ones provide a kind of entertainment. I had them in my refugium for a while.

Smells in the marine system should be mostly that of sea water, however when things decay the smells can range from rotting organics to the very dangerous (to marine life forms and humans) hydrogen sulfide (rotten eggs smell).

First I apology to post my enquiry here, I thought it is related to Fish care, as some fish die due to Xenia, and In fact I don’t know what exactly Xenia is? Animal? Virus? Coral? All I know it is Greek Word!

I guess it's a soft coral. But that would something worth looking up on the Internet. Good luck!
