    bi colored blenny

so i have one fish in my tank right now and it a bi colored blenny less then 2in long. the last three weeks he has wigged out. he is breathing funny and swimming much faster in my tank. I think he is to big for the tank and should find him a new home. or should i place him in QT I think this will only up set him more. he its fine at eating and pick"s at algae in the tank still. i did move all the rock around for a change. Could he real still be upset at this.

I don't see in this post the size of your tank. However from other posts you have made you do mention having a 7 1/2 gallon aquarium. If this is the aquarium this fish is in, then you are right. This fish doesn't belong in this sized aquarium.

The 7.5 is good for a tiny reef display, but you really don't want to stock it with any fish. By the time you put in substrate, equipment, decorations, rock, and of course you don't fill it to the top, there is most likely less than 6.5 gallons of actual water there.

It is difficult to maintain satability in such a small volume of water, which most corals and (mobile) invertebrates need to thrive.

Mead, I am going to be upgrading my 29g to a 90g this winter. You've seen the pics. Will be getting rid of Coralife Lunar T5 4x (paid $250), my tank (paid $100) and most likely my skimmer an Aquamaxx HOB 1 (paid $200). Lemme know if you are interested.

your are correct it is a 7.5 gal tank it is a 14in bio cube set up their holding for water is 7.5 gals this is where some people don't get it. Holding One feather duster 4 mushrooms one small colony of Zoanthus spp. start green ps. and a Xenia colony around 6 snails and 4 hermit crabs One mantis shrimp. and a few plants. the tank has been up and running for 8 months. You are right about not keep fish in a tank my size. But I only keep them till I fill it is unsafe for them to be in the tank. picking only small fish a letting them get a bigger and return them. But i don't want to give a sick fish to some else if I can get him better. But I want whats best for the fish. thanks for your help

    to chris
I would love to upgrade. Been looking at doing my own build. Buy all my tools right now. don't have the room in my apt. but buy a house now so soon more room. Plan on keep the mantis in the cube and having one more new tank.... No one to tell me no so why not.

I think maybe a clown goby would be good for your tank. Full size is about 1".
I really hate it when people say "it's only a $3/$5/$1 fish/shrimp, so it's ok if it dies" TREAT ALL ANIMALS LIKE THEY COST $10,000!!!!!!http://dragcave.net/image/QnMBQ.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/DCQDb.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/8qT9W.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/CP52M.gifhttp://dragcave.net/image/P7mZ4.gifplease click a link, it's nothing bad.

No 'yelling.' However, why not start now collecting up the equipment you need for a 29+. You can get used ones. I figure you must have the test kits and some of the inside decorations/rock/etc. If there is a will, there is a way. In this way, you won't have to give anything away. Certain ones can be yours for life.
