problem with adding new yellow tang

hello everyone i have just acquired a second yellow tang and they do not get along! My first tang is constantly harassing the new one causing it to stay in hiding most of the day. i was wondering if i removed both of them from my tank for a short period of time and then reintroduced them into the tank together if that might fix the problem. any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. happy reefing!

Well, when introducing the same kind of Tang, it sould be done at the same time. Then again, in smaller tanks 2 of the same kind should not be in there because the dominant one will attack and kill the other.
But, to try and get this to stop, rearange your Live Rock, make it look like a new territory for the one that has been in there, and he might leave the other alone. (doubtful in a small tank)

i have a 150 gallon tank with plenty of hiding spots for the fish. I tried rearranging the rock, didnt help. my plan was to have 3 yellow tangs in my tank, so i think i may just trade in the two i have now and introduce 3 new ones into my tank at the same time....and keep my fingers crossed. thanks for the advice.

Hope it works for you. Hasn't worked for anyone else that I know of with that small a tank.

Yes. Remove them, leaving one Tang. You should only have one in a tank "that small" - it's all relative, you know?
