    ICH-X hikari meds

My LFS showed and sold me ICH-X by hikari for my 2 clowns and coral beauty.
they are in a 10g quarantine tank and he told me to dose it to my qt.. I just saw the ingredients: water, formaldehyde (<5%), methanol (<2%), malachite green chloride (<0.1%). Will this really help cure ICH, marine velvet, and such? I am going to add 5 mL of it every day for the next 4 days (already added twice) and replace 1/3 of the QT water every day before adding medication. My LFS claims he runs copper in his fish tanks(not in the invert tanks), but still showed me this product. How long am I supposed to dose this medication anyways? Is 4 days enough?
it says to not medicate with other medications, does that mean after 4 days of medication the ICH-X, I still can't medicate the tank with, say Seachem's Paraguard?

If the instrusctions say 4 days, then I'd run it 4 days. Must be some good stuff for only 4 days. But after the 4 days you'll need to run carbon for say at least a week with 1 water change to get the meds out of the tank before you can dose anything else. But, if your LFS is runnig copper, why did he not suggest that? Thats what I'd go with myself. But the actual safer side with nothing in the tank is Hyposalinity. Ich can't stand that.

    Re: ICH-X hikari meds

Those ingredients are in fact used in the old treatment regimes for Marine Ich. But in that form and concentration, they will not cure infected fish of Marine Ich. These chemicals in their currently applied concentration will stress the parasite, but not kill it all the time.

It is all very simple, NikeLV. If this was a tested, peer reviewed, and its results duplicated in places around the world, it would be the new 'miracle' cure. To independently test it would cost less than $500. No such tests are published; none reviewed by the scientific community; no headlines indicating it to be the cure.

For Marine Ich, the treatment is one of three choices: copper, hyposalinity, transfer method. You want to review this post for more info on each: Curing Fish of Marine Ich

I still refer you to my previous post. What the product doesn't have in it is a sure cure. Let's put it another way. . .If your LFS is so enthused about this, why doesn't he/she use it in their system?

It's your money and your fish.

what? Lol. my LFS does run copper in his fish tanks. and he sold me ICH-X methylene copper. I have dosed twice, did 2 waterchanges already and I am keeping the clowns and angel in there for another week and a half.

Lol. Your LFS doesn't use this expensive product, just the copper -- that works in the right concentration.
