    sohal sick!?

Hi guys, i need some advice on my sohal tang which had been newly acquired about 1 and a half weeks past. He has been eating extremely well and has been kept for a couple of years
according to the previous owner. About 3 days ago, my sohal suddenly developed a brown patch on his right cheek, but i cant see anything wrong with it. It still feeds aggressively on pellets, mysis and seaweed.
Has anyone experienced this before and will it go away or is it a infection of sorts?

Hard to say what this might be. Sorry to hear of the concern. I would prefer to have a photo for this sort of thing, but even a photo can alter the coloration. What is important is the exact color of what it is you see and whether or not it is growing, shrinking in size, or remaining about the same.

It most likely could be an injury or infection and without more information, I can't tell the difference. One thing I would suggest and that is to stop feeding this fish pellet food. Pellet and flake foods contain wheat products, which the marine fish can't digest and can cause digestive problems over a long period of time. I don't know what is available to you, but I'd switch to frozen foods for herbivores and feed macro algae according to the suggestions given in the sticky post on feeding macro algae to marine fishes.

If you can provide a photo, clear and up close, I may be able to help more. Watch and see if the fish doesn't being to heal itself or if it gets worse. An infection would more than likely get worse whereas an injury would most likely heal.

He probably just ran into something. Got a Boo-Boo. After a week goes by it should be gone, if its that.

As you can see one picture is of his right cheek and the other his left, i apologize if the picture is blurry but its really hard to take a good picture with my crappy cams..the brown patch has been there for about 4 days now, and his appetite remains the same, no white spots nor any stress i can detect.

I am hoping its an injury as well, but the thing is, it seems to remain unchanged after 3 days already, i performed a 10% water change and reduced feeding slightly in the hope to see some improvement but i guess i need some help, else ill just be stabbin in the dark =/

Photos are too bad, but I wish they were closer, or that taken at hi-res so that you can blow-up and crop the fish to fill the area, and still have good resolution. As I understand from what you've written, the area has not increased in size, just remained about that size for the past few days?

Give it two more days, then if the area is still there try to take another photo so that I can see the area up close. Trust me, I understand the difficulty in taking photos of Marine fishes, especially Tangs which travel quite a bit.
