Methylene Blue for Freshwater Dip Question

I read Leebca's post about freshwater dipping, so today I went out and bought a bottle of Kordon's 2.303% Methylene Blue. On the back, it says in bold "Dip fishes for no more than 10 seconds." I'm confused, since Leebca's sticky said to dip them for 1/2 hour? Could it be that this methylene blue is of a slightly higher concentration (2.303% as opposed to the 2.0-2.2% recommended by Leebca)? The bottle says that when dipping, I should use 5 teaspoons per 3 gallons of water (which equals 50ppm of methylene blue), but the sticky says to use 9 drops per gallon, so which should I do?

    Thanks in advance

Re: Methylene Blue for Freshwater Dip Question

The post I wrote is for a prophilatic dip, not a curing dip. The instructions on the bottle is for a treatment. The instructions I wrote is correct for the procedure I wrote, which is just a prophilatic treatment using FW. The MB in the dip I propose is not for curing anything, but for just calming the fish. You might find this info in that post--somewhere.

Ah ok. So even though my methylene blue has a higher concentration, it's fine then?

Re: Methylene Blue for Freshwater Dip Question

The difference is small. It sort of depends on the 'batch' that they prepare in the factory. Just add one less drop per gallon. It should be fine. Thanks for being alert and careful!
