    Cool Sump configuration

I have a question about sump configuration, I was going to set up my sump as follows.
Skimmer in 1st chamber with water coming in from DT, 2nd chamber with live rock and sand as well as beneficial algae, 3rd chamber return to DT.
Also is a bubble trap recommended between all chambers or just for the return.

John, check out my build thread. I have everything on there you should need to make a sump. Cheers, and congrats on getting those Jets back (less Zhamnov, Tkachuk, Selanne

    Re: Sump configuration

KEEP IT SIMPLE. ONE BIG OPEN SPACE WITH NO BAFFELS.IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO A REFUGIUM IT NEEDS TO BE HUGE TO WORK. BEST TO USE GFO TO KEEP UP WITH PHOSPHATES. WHAT YOU SHOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION IS HOW TO ATTACH YOUR DRAIN TO A FILTERSOCK? I MADE A DRAWER SO YOU CAN CHANGE IT WHILE WATER IS FLOWING. I HAVE NO MICRO BUBBLES IN MY TANK EITHER.WITH NO BAFFELS. KEEP IN MIND TO GO EFFICENT WITH PUMPS AND LIGHTING. WATERBLASTER ONLY DRAWS 60 WATTS AT 1300 GPH. AND LED ARE ONLY 130 WATTS PER FIXTURE. MY ELECTRIC BILL ON 120 GALLON REEF IS ONLY 30 DOLLARS. YOU ALSO WANT A MIN OF 3/8 THICK ACRYLIC. NOT A THIN ESHOPS SUMP. AND A FLOAT HALF WAY UP FOR WATER TO KEEP FILLING IT OFF YOUR RO UNIT.SO YOU HAVE NO WORRIES.

    Re: Sump configuration

if you buy a sump that is how they are arranged. basicly the refugium is just a tank. it has the compartments so you can protect your return pump and skimmer from sand getting in them. let's see my first chamber houses my skimmer, my heater, and the mini jet that powers my aquaripure. the second has sand, rubble and algea, and my final chamber has my return pump. when i get the money to add an auto top off, i will mount all of that in the first chamber as well.
