    New to saltwater

I bought a used saltwater setup 60gal with stand and canopy with 2 175w MH and 2 96w pc. He also gave me a sump with pump and heater and overflow. I have no idea how this thing goes together and im getting flustered with all the info I've been reading. I know i still need a skimmer and some power heads. Im going crazy with all the info im trying to take in. If someone could help me thx

    Re: New to saltwater

Hi I know how mind boggling it all is,I myself are quite new to it all and it is very easy to get confused. Basically the really important things are a skimmer and a pump to clean the water. you read about UV s and all this kind of stuff but to be honest it's all unnecessary unless you have whitespot problems-this is what I have been told. The following will start you off:- Lighting,a skimmer adequate for your size of tank.depending on whether you want corals a power head again suitable for the gallon capacity of your tank. The secret is to be patient.I have just put fish in my Juwel 400 tank after 3 months. Decent lighting-more important if you intend to keep corals. that's basically it.what else do you want to know?.

A sump is not completely necessary it just keeps everything out of the tank.
