Re: Motivated or what--The rebuild of the 300

Well, I have to admit it was a good time working once again with a few old friends. But man I didn't expect to work nearly that hard I didn't have near enough time to drink more CR.

Things looked good when I left but still waiting on things to clear up. Can't wait to see the pictures of the after effect. Should be even better than it was in it's glory, within no time.

    Thanks for the fun

Real close Scott. We almost ran out of 1.5" PVC, and that was the last thing we did. Otherwise, the main return would have had to wait until this morning.

Re: Motivated or what--The rebuild of the 300

Hery Duane, must have made it back to Missoula OK, huh?

While I am on here, I have to thank some folks a whole bunch. The crew consisted of Duane, Brandon, Rob and Tim, and of course myself. I had better mention Lorie too, because she cooked some really delicious ribs. I personally can't believe that we got as much done as we did, but that is only because of the dedication and expertise of the people involved. Once we got to the plumbing part, I swear if anyone had gotten in Tim's way, they would have ended up part of the plumbing. Brandon and Rob removed and cleaned all the rock, and poor Duane got stuck with the sand, but I think he took it to heart, and pretended he was a kid again, the sand was out of the tank in a little over an hour. While the plumbing thing was going on, I aqauscaped the tank, and if I do say so myself, I did one heck of a job. Of course Lorie got involved here to because she has to look at it too. I should say we did one heck of a job!!!!!
Brandon stayed over, and this morning we got the lites back up. He took off for home, and I finished up the lights, timers and I ended up spiffing up the electrical a whole bunch from what it was when the tank was in it's prime. From what I hear, Brandon got home OK today, it was snowing like a mother when he left!!!! Hope he is happy with the rock!!!!!!
The tank itself hasn't cleared up yet, I am off to take some more after pics, I hope to get all these pics uptomorrow or Tuesday. I am beat to a frazzle, we really made one hell of a mess!!! But I got that cleaned up too, picture me with a vacuum cleaner today, it wasn't a pretty site!!!!

Thanks again for coming and helping you 4. The folks that didn't make it missed a hell of a good time, the best of the best came and left, and I am very happy with the results, VERY HAPPY, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Glad I could be available!!! So you became familiar with the vaccum did you? I was wondering just how bad it was going to be. Could have been worse though, if so much water hadn't been spilt and we needed to clean that up as we went

Still trying to figure out where my weekend went, I need a vacation!!

YAAYY!!! Glad to hear it went so well Charlie, I know those projects can be so overwhelming. Good help is hard to find, you are fortunate to have so many available! I thought Montana only had 1 person per 100 sq miles!!! ;)

Somedays I would rather it that way! If Charlie wasn't a half a continent away I would gladly have been there!

Thanx, I spent a little more than 2 hours getting that figured out. I am still kind of foggy, but I sure as heck feel a bunch better than I did when we finished up last nite.

I am going to try to take some pics each nite to keep this updated on the progress of the tank. The main returns are going to change, Lorie is right, they are rather unsightly. Some 45s or 90s are in order. The siphon breaks work like a champ tho, that is the biggest thing.

Ya I have to agree with her, they do look like Dogdoo, but 45's should fix it. Like we talked about get rid of the extension and go 45's and all will be good.

Great job Charlie, I think your going to like it when the SPS start growign like weeds once again.

Re: Motivated or what--The rebuild of the 300

It'll be a while my friend. Like I told you yesterday, this isn't gonna be quick. I really have to sit down and figure out what the best flow patterns are gonna be. Right now, alot of crap is settling at the back of the tank. I didn't get a chance to get in there and adjust those returns today. I think I will get that tomorrow. I am also letting the sump level down to the point where I can utilize that last baffle in the sump. I have already erased the line at the back of the sump!!!!
Lorie and I got the fish back in around noon, they have absolutely no freaking idea as to what is going on. They are alot easier to chase down in a 75, I almost felt sorry for Tim yesterday. If I would have sat down and watched him, I probably would have cried from laughing to hard.
