Re: December-January meeting

I am gonna go with a 1" bed. It will be deep enuf to have a couple gobies. I am sure it will get blown around up until I figure my flow patterns out.
The way I have the flow planned, and the way it is actually gonna happen are 2 totally different things, we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Re: December-January meeting

Okay, now when are you going to forget that little slip and excursion out the back window.

I do hope that everyone who shows up is ready for some heavy work. This is going to be a fun and busy weekend!! But I do think it'll be possible to accomplish your plans in the time allotted.

I do think the fun part is going to be trying to keep the sand on the bottom where it belongs. We need to try and talk you into bare bottom and put the gobies in another tank. Sure it'll be a loosing battle on my part but I have to try.

I did put a newsance(sp) hermit (white striped legs) in the 270 and hes loving it ......lol and a snail that was in some transplanted sand is cleaning the refuge for the past 2 days...lol

To be honest, I think all we aere gonna do that day was move the sump, but the more you think about it, we are gonna have to move a couple of pumps anyways.....................................

Keep talking, I can always get a different pump for the 1" closed loop. I think the sand will settle out Duane, but then again I could be back in the 70's again.

Re: December-January meeting

Kyle, get all your rock in there first, you gotta trust me on that!!!!!

You don't want any sand out of my tank, and I probably wouldn't volunteer any, then you really could blame me if something went TU.

I am not sure what all you have now Brandon. If you could let me know that, I could help out a little more. Don't buy any rock until we get done up here, OK. I know I am gonna let loose of some.

I just don't want you to cycle the darn thing 5 times. Do it once and get it over with.

Re: December-January meeting

Well the list of help is growing, the problem is soon going to be finding room for everyone to actually work.

And yes Charlie, I know the sand will probably settle down and find a place to lay but I still think your system and teh flow we are talking about would be a great BB system!!!! Think of the problems you/we associated to sand beds, and them being disturbed then think if there wasn't one.

okay I'e tried again and will let it go for a while

Back to the task at hand, since we have to move pumps anyway do you have the hardware to make the back shelf for the pumps, I think once we move the sump we are going to learn we need to move alot of things. Just something to think about.

My plans are still good for being there so you better have some good drinks waiting, I can't wait!!

P.S. I don't think I'll ever forget the lady's face either

Oh, we'll find room. I think that if we get this coordinated right, it may just work.

We will have time to chat about that.

Not yet Duane, I am not real sure how big I want to make the shelf. With a little creative plumbing, I may be able to screw the pumps to the stand, but that is stretching the thought.

What kind of beer are you sucking down these days?

By now you should know, if it's cold then I aint too picky.

I was thinking ....... your comment on screwing the pumps to the frame isn't that bad of an idea. The pump has no idea what direction it's laying. Only thing is the motor can't be vertical. so long as it's horizontal all is well.

take some measurements and I bet we could make it work, on that note ...... do we want to take them apart and clean them like we did before? Might help to get this done before something happens and I'm 100 miles away.

Think on it and let me know

Duane

Re: December-January meeting

Oh yeah, everything is gonna be clean Duane, nice and clean!!! I think the shelf is the way to go, we don't really have to even change a bulkhead, I left enuf space for some error when I set it up the first time. Would you do a 2x12, with a metal shelf bracket? I think a 2x12 should be stout enuf, it only has to hold up a Dart and an Iwaki 70. Do you know where to find a thick piece of rubber mat?
