I think a 2x12 should be stout enuf, it only has to hold up a Dart and an Iwaki 70. Do you know where to find a thick piece of rubber mat?

Hum, I'll have to think about the mat but I think I do know where to get some. you know the stuff you put in a tool box drawer .... I should be able to get more than enough of that. It's the heavy stuff not the cheap type. What you think?

A 2X12 with the metal bracket should be more than enough. and easy to install. I would definately use at least 3 brackets if not 4.

If you could find some of the mat, yeah, grab it.

I was going to hang 2 of the brackets on the legs of the stand, and I guess I could get 2 shorter brackets for the stand. We are not really going to able to hang the shelf until the sump gets plumbed tho, we may have to cut a notch or 2 in the cross brace of the stand for the drains. I wonder if I shouldn't have gotten a couple of 2" bulkheads and just drilled the sump, but I don't really wanna do that. Holes=instability.

Re: December-January meeting

I will be in the area 24th and 25th with Riley's family, while there I'll make a trip to some mill I know and try to grab some mat. I know the shift that's on

I have to agree that holes=instability ....... how low would the holes have to be? it might not be as bad if they are closer to the top, it is a gravity drain to them so not really a sealing issue. Just keep it in the back of your mind for a possibilty, might be easier/safer than drilling/cutting cross member.

Re: December-January meeting

I could probably drill one up high and one about the regular water level, think that would work? The drains will be under the stand so they really wouldn't get in the way of anything, would they?
They make hole saws that big, they must make 'em for a reason.

Re: December-January meeting

Duane, there is no way I can get 2 3.5" holes inside the first baffle on my sump, and actually feel good about it, unless I figured out a way to get them to the back of the sump, which may be a theory if I used some spaflex and barbed connectors. I have never used 2" spaflex, have you?

Now your starting to think like a craftsman We will be able to make what ever work that you decide. Just trying to give you some different options my friend. Hope you are taking them with a grain of salt.

besides what can you do expect from a man that climbs out teh back window of a truck to get a beer

Well DUH, Marine Depot has 2" flex tube. Ya know, with some good old american ingenuity, and a couple of tywraps, this may work.

Re: December-January meeting

for what it's worth, i think drilling the sump would be a lot easier than drilling the tank support beam...... if you do the sump, is there room to put a 90 degree elbow on the inside to direct the flow down? otherwise i think you'll have to much salt creep.

Re: December-January meeting

I would have to drill the end of the sump. I would still have to do the beam otherwise the pipes aren't gonna get out from underneath real easy.

Damn, you make it sound like an endurance race.

Things are coming together man. I am sure that at least 4 besides me are gonna be here. I ordered the ribs yesterday!!!! Just for grins, bring munchies, I would hate to starve while I am dehydrating.

Re: December-January meeting

Not really an endurance race but if I keep my hydration up then I can drink even more of your beer

Don't mean to sound negative about this .... that isn't how it's been meant. Just poking at you and like normal I found a soft spot Like the one on the top of your head :P

Love ya man

Huh, sounds like the top of your head might be a bit soft to, eh?????

I knew what you were talking about man. Hey, we are into a ton of crap here. Basically, we HAVE to get the sump back and functioning so I can feed the fuge and at the same time keep the skimmer going, so that is the first priority. then we can sit back and have the first beer to help with hydration.

Re: December-January meeting

Sounds like a plan my friend, this should go pretty smooth as we have everything pretty well layed out. What time you think you want to get started anyway?

Riley will be dropping me off and then running around with a couple friends of her's so I'll be stranded and have no choice but work my ass off for food. Still not 100% sure if we are leaving Friday or not but if we do leave Saturday morning it'll be early.

Let me know when you will be up and ready to go to work.

Re: December-January meeting

No kidding, For some reason we always tend to get going a little earlier than most people, that way we can call it EST and start drinking earlier.

I'll let you know for sure when we are leaving and when I'll be there when we get closer to Friday. I know your number
