So Charlie sells me this LR with a dead, brittle, broken, yellowish attached coral and tells me that it might grow back (after he breaks off a piece to show me that it is indeed dead). I, of course, thought maybe he was off his rocker, just a little.Oh ye of little faith (that would be me!). Attached are a couple of pictures of the "dead" coral. You can see the extended tentacles in the second photo. (I just put in the third photo for kicks, my xenia has quadrupled in size in about a month. You can also see some green fuzzy looking algae on the rocks, yuk). I also noticed that I have corraline algae growing on the glass. I was going to try to move my LR around a little to make room on the sides for glass cleaning but when I discovered my new life, I decided to leave as is for the time being. Might have to get that bigger tank sooner rather than later! So anyway, I had to check the tentacles with a turkey baster and blew some water on the coral. Indeed, the tentacles withdrew and then extended again. I am soooo excited. What is this coral? Do you remember? I hope it will continue to grow with my lighting. What do you think?
