Just learning, my 75G setup

Thought I would start a thread to learn a few things from you experts to improve my 75G saltwater setup. The photos do not show the Eheim Pro II cannister filter(s) that I will be putting on immediately. I had backpack filters with biowheels etc. on the tank, which I do not want to use again. I do have a refugium, as you will see in one picture. No sump, as plumbing flood the house last time. All this stuff - e.g., live rocks - have been quite established for over 2 years, and was transferred in water. Could use some Chaeto or Red Gracilaria in the refugium, as well as little critters - copepods and what. I have Caulerpa, which I prefer less.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be much appreciated.

(Click "next" or "back" when you get to the site to see all 4 pictures).

Thanks!
Nick

Re: Just learning, my 75G setup

I have some chaeto. Are you gonna run a skimmer on this tank?

Don't run any filtration in the canister, maybe a little carbon, but nothing else.
And, I will refer you to this thread:
Summer Meeting
It will be a good learning experience!!!
Can you shoot me a private message with your phone number?

Re: Just learning, my 75G setup

Thanks Charlie, I'll try (again) to pm you my number. Yes, I forgot to mention that I have a protein skimmer on the refugium. It works ok but I may throw my Berlin skimmer on. I understand that the sponge/filters in the canister end up creating major nitrate problems. Two people I know in Kalispell had their tanks wiped out - maybe due to this problem. Is that your sense? Chaeto (hopefully with "bugs") from you would be a big help!

Charlie, I am very interested in the Summer Meeting but I do have to check to make sure that my wife can take the kids on that Sunday.

Re: Just learning, my 75G setup

Hey Nick, you are more than welcome to the chaeto. If you can't PM me again, my last name is ******, and I am in the book. We'll figure this out yet.
I am home tonight if you see this.
I don't know why the tanks got wiped out, maybe they listened to Bob to much.
Maybe you could make it up before the meeting to pick up the chaeto, I am always into talking reefs, and I am home most every nite.
